The IEJ's research report, "International Financial Institutions’ Covid-19 Lending in South Africa: Context, contentions, and policy implications", published with support from Oxfam South Africa, serves as a departure point for a civil society workshop held on 23 May 2023 in partnership with the Alternative Information and Development Centre (AIDC). The workshop's aim is to unpack the implications of IFI lending practices on resourcing for rights realisation, climate finance, national debt, and on democracy in South Africa.
In the fourth session of the day Kamal Ramburuth, the IEJ's Debt and Development Finance Researcher, presents the findings and recommendations made in the research report, "International Financial Institutions’ Covid-19 Lending in South Africa: Context, contentions, and policy implications".
