In case you don't remember:
Haley has Carlisle and Esme hostage. She's been torturing them and is kying in wait for the others to come and get them. Aiya is a Fate, one of three to be exact (It's greek mythology). She used Carlisle's connection with Edward to reach him in his subconscious. Basically, Carlisle was the walkie-talkie between Aiya and Edward. She's put them both to sleep so their minds can recover from her magic. Obviously, Aiya has a more sinister plan for them than she's leading on. oooo, scary lol. Yeah, I'm cheesy :) For a full recap, rewatch the Season Finale of The Dark Sun and the first episode of Last Hope called [Aiya] :)
