Weight cutting is a permanent and terrifying part of mixed martial arts, where fighters diet and dehydrate themselves to meet the requirements of their weight class
And there have been some downright disturbing weight cuts.
Conor McGregor’s cut to 145 to challenge Dennis Siver left him sunken and left fans very concerned for his health. Thankfully, it didn’t seem to affect his performance.
Cris Cyborg on the other hand had a tortuous weight cut to fight at UFC’s 140 Ib catchweight, where she admitted to cutting 26 pounds in 2 days to meet the weight class. Thankfully, the introduction of the 145 Ib weight class gave her some relief before her departure.
TJ Dillashaw had a very infamous weight cut to drop to 125 Ibs to face Henry Cejudo, where he looked absolutely terrible, and regrettably took EPO to even make the weight.
