An interview with Kenneth Irving about the research of Michel and Francoise Gauquelin, and their statistical studies of astrology that led to the Mars Effect controversy.
The Gauquelins conducted the largest statistical studies of timed birth charts and natal astrology that were done in the 20th century.
Their most controversial finding was that the planet Mars tended to be rising or culminating at the birth of eminent sports champions more frequently than chance should allow.
The Gauquelin's findings were initially replicated by other scientific and skeptical groups, which led to a controversy over whether astrology was partially valid or whether the test was simply flawed.
