It was a perfect day for a trip to Ada, a coastal gem on the southeast coast of Ghana where the Volta River meets the Atlantic Ocean. Emma, my beach-loving companion, was ecstatic about our plans. We had checked the weather report the night before and were thrilled to see nothing but sunshine ahead—no rainclouds in sight.

Since the island wasn't accessible by car, we hopped on a boat and set sail for Maranatha Beach Resort. The boat ride was delightful, with the breeze tousling our hair and the sun warming our faces. As we cruised along, we couldn't help but feel a sense of adventure bubbling up inside us.

Upon arrival, Emma wasted no time. She sprinted towards the water, dove in, and transformed into a mermaid before my eyes. She swam for hours, looking as if she was in a blissful, watery paradise straight out of a dream. Meanwhile, I lounged on the beach, soaking in the sun and enjoying the sight of Emma’s pure joy.

Eventually, Emma emerged from the lake, her smile brighter than the sun. She grabbed a cold beer and joined me on the sand. We played beach games, our laughter ringing out over the waves. Emma then found a hammock and swung gently, basking in the serenity of the moment.

We decided to take a stroll and watch the fishermen at work. Their skill and patience were mesmerizing, and we felt a deep appreciation for the simple, hardworking life they led. As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the water, we sat together, our hearts full and our spirits lifted.

Our friends started to depart, and it was time to head back to Accra. We boarded the boat, leaving behind a day that felt like a beautiful dream. Emma, the beach girl, had shown me the magic of the ocean, and we both knew we'd carry the memory of this perfect day with us forever.
