Sheree Rasmussen is a textile artist with a studio and gallery (The Red Tower Gallery) here in the Trent Hills. Her medium is fabric collage, and she creates dramatic and colourful abstract works.
Says Rasmussen, "Dance training imprinted on me a love of creating energetic patterns through movement, and I have transposed this feeling of movement of my body in space to the movement of colour, shape, and pattern through the medium of textiles, working in an improvisational way. I have also worked as a garden designer for many years, and that has influenced my artwork. The word paradise comes from the Persian word meaning walled garden, a perfect little universe. The garden is a symbol of unity and wholeness, and a well-designed garden has the effect of creating harmony within."
