How to Break 85 in Golf | The Scoring Method Explained Over 18 Holes (Shot 81)

In this video, I play a full 18 holes of golf and break down exactly how to break 85 using the simple and repeatable Scoring Method. Instead of chasing swing thoughts, this approach focuses on smart course management, penalty avoidance, and scoring zone execution to help you lower your scores immediately.

I explain the three core steps of the Scoring Method and show how to apply them in real on-course situations:

Step 1: No Penalties Off the Tee
The fastest way to blow up a round is through penalty strokes. I focus on choosing the right club and target to keep the ball in play and eliminate doubles before they happen.

Step 2: Reach the Scoring Zone on Your Par Minus 2 Shot
Your goal is to enter the scoring zone of 100 yards and in on your par minus two shot. This requires choosing the correct “gear” based on the hole layout, trouble, and your current lie. Aggression is selective and intentional.

Step 3: Finish in Three Shots or Less from the Scoring Zone
Once inside 100 yards, the objective is simple: get the ball in the hole in three shots or fewer. This includes wedge play, distance control, and stress-free putting.

By sticking to this scoring strategy, I put together one of my best rounds and shoot 81 while explaining every decision along the way.

This video is designed for golfers trying to break 90, break 85, or become more consistent scorers without relying on perfect ball striking.
