Learn how to make the traditional Nigerian Chinchin (sweet and savoury) in these simple steps. This is an easy to make recipe and it is cheap too, with limited ingredients. No Eggs, milk and other expensive ingredients. This recipe freezes well so dough can be made in large quantities and stored in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. It is an absolute 'must do' for this yuletide!
INGREDIENTS:
Savory chinchin: Sweet Chinchin:
4 cups All purpose flour 8 cups All purpose flour
1tsp baking powder 2 cups Sugar
Onion powder 2tsp Baking powder
1 clove Garlic 1\2 cup+ 2tbsp butter
1\2 cup+2tbspMargarine
1small Onion Zest of 2 lemons, 1 lime
1/2 cup + 2 tbsp Margarine 1 tsp vanilla oil
1tsp salt 2tsp salt
200ml Water 300ml water
Oil for frying Oil for frying
NOTES
Your flour can take more or less. please add water in bits until you get your dough into the consistency shown in the video).
*You can use any type of vanilla extract available to you.
