Just unboxed my new Raymon trail 160 eMTB. Trail seems bit of an odd name as it’s really an enduro bike with its 160mm travel. It was a smooth transaction from order to arrival purchased from paulscycles.co.uk very impressive. Bike looks fabulous on first inspection and looks exactly what I need (I hope) to be able to ride with two groups that are faster than me. I’m hoping I’ll get a lightweight XC speed uphill with the enduro capability downhill. I’m out for my first ride tomorrow so i will find out soon enough.
I mention in the video it’s a steel frame, of course it’s not - its aluminium … I meant it’s not carbon, which is lovely but I felt not as important on an e-bike. I also believe that aluminium is a bit tougher in everyday life.
I did a bit of research on the brand Raymond and from what I understand it is a German brand founded in 2017 then sold to the PIERER group who owned KTM, Husqvarna & Gas Gas. The frame is the same as a Gas Gas / Husqvarna. With differences in branding and components. I heard that Raymon had been sold back to its original German owners but can’t find confirmation of that. If that’s the case it should be free of the liquidation worries that KTM / Husky / Gas Gas are operating under, and mean i have a frame warranty.
So it’s got a decently designed frame, components are what they are, I believe the fork can be upgraded with a new damper which is a cheap and easy upgrade. I loved Husky’s when I rode MX and enduro - so I am tempted to add Husky decals to it ! 😂😂 but I’m sure I won’t.
I aim to ride it hard or at least often and put it away wet…
