🎯 Welcome to Episode 48 of our PSLE Science series! In this video, we break down PSLE 2023 OEQ Question 39, where students are required to draw a parallel circuit based on a given observation statement. We’ll also examine some sample answers to spot common mistakes and learn how to improve your diagrams and explanations.
📌 What you’ll learn:
✅ What is a parallel circuit?
✅ Why switches must be placed beside batteries
✅ How to match a circuit diagram to a given observation
✅ What makes a scientifically accurate diagram
🔌 What is a Parallel Circuit?
A parallel circuit allows electric current to flow through more than one path. This means: Each component (e.g. bulb or motor) has its own direct pathway to the battery. If one component is turned off (or removed), the others can still work.
🎬 Final Tip:
When asked to draw or explain a circuit, always start by identifying:
1. The type of circuit (parallel or series)
2. The control mechanism (which switch(es) control(s) what)
3. The expected outcome (which bulb lights up and when)
Let’s keep learning and writing answers that show clear scientific thinking!
