Explore the myths and facts about spotted lanternflies, backed by scientific research. Beth Sastre, commercial horticulturist for Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) Loudoun, presents.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Sastre was born in Mexico, where she graduated from Universidad Autonoma Agraria Antonio Narro (UAAAN-UL) and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy. She then pursued her Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Postharvest Physiology at the Food and Development Research Center (CIAD) in Hermosillo. Sastre works with aspiring farmers, farmers and agricultural workers, helping to find solutions to a diversity of horticulture problems through extension programming. She is well-versed in best management practices for regenerative agriculture, focusing on soil health principles; integrated pest management; pesticide safety, training, certification, and recertification; local food supply and value chains; leadership and community viability; and education.
