Why I Stopped Using Other Drawing Apps

I used to do almost all of my illustration work in Procreate—totally happy, no complaints. But for the past however-many years (don’t ask, I don’t understand time), I’ve been working almost exclusively in Adobe Fresco. Why? Because it has tools that seriously improved my workflow—like vector trimming, motion paths, built-in shape libraries, contiguous paint bucket fills (or is it non-contiguous??), and more.

In this video, I walk through the Fresco features that changed everything (well, not everything, but a lot). Whether you’re already using Fresco or you’re Procreate-curious, you’ll probably pick up something new. Bonus: Adobe made all of Fresco free—no more premium upgrade nonsense.

I’ll also show how I use vector + pixel brushes together, how smoothing works better here than in Procreate, and why motion in Fresco is secretly way more powerful than you’d expect. Plus, I make a fish do flips. So, that too.
