Celebrating the Year of the Snake at UCI’s Annual Lunar New Year Celebration! 🐍🌸

One of our favorite Lunar New Year traditions is performing at UCI’s annual celebration at the Irvine Barclay Theatre, and this year was no exception! We were honored to share the stage with an incredible lineup of traditional performers, bringing the spirit of the new year to life. ✨🌏

This year, we presented “Celebration Medley,” a vibrant fusion of Chinese dances that showcases the rich cultural diversity within Chinese classical and folk traditions. Featuring repertoire from Weiwuer Zu, Miao Zu, Shandong Yangge, Jiaozhou Yangge, Yue opera, and Chinese classical dance, this medley celebrates the unique expressions of communities across China. 🔥

Exploring and sharing these diverse dance styles is at the heart of what we do. Through this journey, we not only celebrate each community’s traditions but also teach our young dancers the importance of embracing cultural differences and honoring individuality. 💃🏮
