This serves three functions.

1. You get to keep the momentum going further.

2. The back leg gets off the ground faster, which makes you faster. Pushing the back leg off the ground is slow because, well, you push the ground, which means it wants to stay on it longer. The ThighMaster move, done with the front leg's inner thigh (actually, the back leg activates, too), lifts the back leg off the ground without having to push the ground.

3. It keeps you from falling over or spinning out because the back leg goes forward first and only after that swings around the brace. It keeps you closed a little longer.

Bonus: it may protect your knee from twisting because you turn it consciously inwards. This is a massive bonus because that fear alone might cause you to slow down subconsciously.

It does not make the arm move any faster. It may cause your body to move faster and let the arm move faster past the body. Again, I'm not sure. I wouldn't call these caveats if I was sure. I want to be honest, even if it makes me sound stupid.

This move will, however, create more balance, which can add power later on because it lets you work without worrying about falling over or spinning out.
