There is a war in the chest,
not the thundering kind with drums and flags,
but a silent mutiny,
where the heart whispers one thing
and the bones beg another.

Each morning I walk barefoot
across a tightrope of ifs.
Do I rise when the alarm sounds like regret?
Do I say what stings with truth?
Do I stay or finally unravel
the seams of a life I stitched from fear?

They say decisions are doors.
But no one tells you
they're also funerals,
for the versions of you
that don’t make it through.

I have stood at the altar of indecision
so long, moss grows from my ankles.
Not because I didn't know what to do,
but because I knew,
and feared the fire it would take
to do it.

Sometimes the truth isn't a light
but a match,
and the future only arrives
after you’ve burned the bridge.

They speak of intuition
as a soft thing,
a bird resting on your shoulder.
Mine screams in the voice
of every night I couldn't sleep.

We are not made of courage,
we are made of consequence.
But in rare moments,
we gather the scattered yes
that trembles in the gut,
and say no more,
to compromise, to delay,
to the quiet suffocation
of living halfway.

One decision.
Not to be better.
But to be true.
Even if truth costs
the story others wrote for you.

So I press my ear
to the compass buried in my ribs,
and I walk.
Not with certainty.
But with self.
