Figure Note:
Stop-Motion Transformation of HasLab Unicron. Teenage Mutant Ninja Planet. This was loaned to me by my favorite cousin. Who, for the record, was already my favorite cousin. There are tabs that secure what become the folded-up upper quadrants to the legs. Those tabs are very tricky to get to pop in and out. Watch a hands-on review for a better concept of how to handle this thing.
Pros: Epic size. Looks great in planet mode. Nice stand for display. Maw mechanism is cool.
Cons: Transformation is clunky. Head parts-forms and stores nowhere. Robot mode looks like a Pringle’s collaboration. NEEDS stand for display.
I made the right choice when I chose the Zeta/StudioOne figure back when. But this does look better in planet mode.

Planet to Robot: 0:09
Robot to Planet: 1:50
Speed run to Robot: 3:32
Speed run to Planet: 4:06
2x Run: 4:41
End credits: 5:16
Production Note: Everything is harder when something is this large and heavy, despite being a pretty simple transformation. I didn’t do any animation at the end because I was already committed to 288 photos for the 360s and I would have lost my place if I had to turn the head, etc. Also by then I was freakin’ exhausted.
Viewing Note:
If you want to follow along, I recommend skipping to the speed run and using your , and . keyboard keys to advance by single frames. Every step of the transformation is documented in the frames of the video, in what I consider to be the best sequence. With minimal rubbing and minimal parts-parking.
Music: The music is by Ethan Meixsell - www.ethanmeixsell.com
Songs: “Demise”, “Taking a Beating” and “Thor’s Hammer”
