Baseball at its best! Let’s Go Mets! Citi Field, Queens, New York

If the Mets had a playoff game in 2021, this was it. July 31. The team had just traded for Javy Baez from the Chicago Cubs and had sights on the playoffs. This game was all about taking it to the next level.

Baseball gets a bad rap for being long and boring, but when you get an enthusiastic home crowd combined with a come-from-behind win along with the great (but expensive) ballpark food on a perfect summer night, there is no place better to be in America than at the ballpark.

This was my first trip to Citi Field since they tore down the Cathedral known as Shea Stadium, partly because I was overseas so much and partly due to a personal boycott of the Wilpons - and my team didn't let me down.

The stadium and the fans did not let me down either -aside from three clowns in Mets jerseys who were cheering for the Cincinnati Reds. They let me down.

From the opening ceremonies of the Mets Hall of Fame day - with introductions of many famous and legendary Mets - to the electric crowd and the seventh inning stretch of "Take me out to the ballgame," this day was special.

Joined by my cousin, VFC had a heck of an evening at the ballpark.

Ah yeah.
