Second-Half Surge Propels Guyer Over Lewisville for District Crown, 47-21.
DENTON, TX — The Denton Guyer Wildcats overcame a rare halftime deficit and erupted for 27 unanswered points in the second half to defeat the Lewisville Fighting Farmers 47-21 on Friday, October 31, 2025. The explosive performance not only secured a crucial victory but also clinched the District 5-6A championship for the Wildcats in front of their home crowd.
First Half Shootout
The game lived up to its billing as a high-stakes district showdown in the first half, featuring back-and-forth scoring that left the outcome in doubt.
Guyer struck first when quarterback Carter Morgan connected with Cash Bird for a 12-yard touchdown pass.
Lewisville answered with an electric 74-yard touchdown run by Derrick Martin to tie the game at 7-7.
The half was a seesaw battle of scores, highlighted by multiple touchdowns from Guyer's star back Kaedyn Cobbs. However, Lewisville’s passing attack—led by a late 18-yard touchdown pass from Tre Williams to Traejan Mueller with just seconds left—gave the Fighting Farmers a slim 21-20 lead heading into the locker room.
The Wildcat Third-Quarter Blitz
Whatever Guyer Head Coach Reed Heim said at halftime worked, as the Wildcats came out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter, completely shutting down Lewisville's momentum.
The key sequence that swung the game was a combination of efficient offense and opportunistic defense:
Cobbs Punches It In: Kaedyn Cobbs scored his third rushing touchdown of the night on a 4-yard run to regain the lead, 27-21.
Morgan Extends Lead: Quarterback Carter Morgan used his legs for a 5-yard rushing touchdown to push the margin to 33-21.
Defensive Touchdown: Linebacker Zane Rowe came up huge, scooping up a loose ball and rumbling 69 yards for a defensive touchdown that officially broke Lewisville's spirit, giving Guyer a commanding 40-21 lead entering the final frame.
Championship Sealed
Guyer sealed the victory in the fourth quarter with a 14-yard touchdown run by Zephyr Kreye. Wide receiver Tristan Shelton was a major weapon all night, finishing with 5 receptions for 173 yards, stretching the field and opening up the running lanes for the Wildcats.
The dominant 47-21 victory improved Denton Guyer's record to 7-2 overall and 6-0 in District 5-6A, clinching the district championship and a guaranteed playoff spot. Lewisville (7-3, 4-2) also officially secured a playoff berth thanks to other results in the district.
