What Happened in Karbala? Episode 6


وصل الأنصار إلى أرضِ كربلاء لنُصرة الإمام الحسين عليه السلام
The “Ansar” (people who defended Imam Hussain) arrived at Karbala to fight by Imam Hussain’s (As) side


وعلى رأسهم شيخ الأنصار حبيب من مظاهر
Led by their patron “Shaikh AlAnsar” Habib ibn Modhaher


عازمين على القتال في نصرته
AlAnsar were determined to sacrifice their lives in defense of Imam Hussain (As)


و الدفاع عن حرمه
And his household and kinship


فلمّا أصبحت ليلة العاشر جمع الإمام الحسين أصحابه وقال :
On the night of “Ashura” -the tenth of Muharram-, Imam Hussain (As) gathered his companions to address them intimately


"الحمدلله الذي اكرمنا بالنّبوة ، و علمنا القرآن ، وفقهنا بالدين ..
He said: “I praise Allah for blessing us with prophecy, and teaching us Quran, and nurturing us with the knowledge of “fiqh” -Islamic jurisprudence-”


وأنني ما خرجت إلّا لطلب الإصلاح في أمّة جدي
He continued: “For I have come forth for the sole purpose of instituting reform in my grandfather’s nation”


ألا وإن القوم قد خيروني بين السلة والذلة وهيهات منا الذلة
.. And these people asked me to choose between two; either death or humiliation, I would say: far from us is disgrace!


وأنّي لا أعلم أصحاباً أولى ولا أوفى ولا أصبر منكم ، ولا أهل بيتٍ أوفى من أهل بيتي ..
… And I have not known of any companions more loyal or patient than yourselves, nor have I known of any household more faithful than my household


فجزاكم الله عني جميعا خيرا
… I pray that Allah rewards you with his greatest grace


وقد أبحتكم واذنت لكم في حل
…. And I have spared and exempted you


ليس لي عليكم ذمام
… And you have the liberty to withdraw


فهذا اللّيل قد غشيكم فاتخذوهُ جملا "
… And return under the cover of night safely to your homes


وبات الإمام الحسين وأصحابه تلك اللّيلة ، ولهم دويٌ كدوي النحل ، مابين راكعٍ وساجد وقائم وقاعد
Imam Hussain (As) and his companions may Allah be pleased with them spent that night in worship and supplication, pleading assistance from Allah
