Immersi nel verde delle colline fiorentine portiamo avanti l'antica tradizione del tessere a mano seta, oro e argento. Nei nostri ambienti dominano grandi telai Jacquard manuali di fine Ottocento che si prestano alla creazione di tessuti esclusivi, sotto le sapienti mani di maestri tessitori che lavorano ancora come una volta. Insegniamo l’arte della tessitura attraverso attività didattiche mirate e professionalizzanti, dove teoria e pratica riescono a fondersi e finalizzarsi all'alta e completa formazione.

La tecnica di tessitura del velluto
La tessitura procede tessendo il fondo (di solito con 3 o 4 passaggi di trama di fondo che si intreccia all’ordito di fondo), quindi si sollevano i fili dell’ordito di pelo secondo lo schema impresso in una serie di cartoni, che vengono letti in successione dalla macchina Jacquard.
Ad ogni cartone si ha il sollevarsi dei fili di pelo selezionati, sotto ai quali il tessitore inserisce un ferro che può essere a sezione circolare oppure avere sul lato superiore una scanalatura. La tecnica del velluto a mano richiede una grande attenzione e abilità da parte del tessitore che in media riesce a produrre circa 20-25 centimetri al giorno.

La tecnica di tessitura del broccato-
Nel caso di tessuti con trame broccate, ogni colore è passato singolarmente con piccoli spolini, una piccola navetta che viene inserita a mano all’alzarsi dei fili dell’ordito di fondo, .
Più sono i colori e i filati diversi che concorrono alla determinazione del motivo e più è lenta e delicata la tessitura che deve essere eseguita dalla tessitrice, specializzata in questa tecnica, con grande attenzione seguendo il disegno tecnico -Messa in Carta che fornisce tutte le indicazioni dei diversi inserimenti. Più ricca è la gamma di colori impiegata, più lenta procede la lavorazione, la produzione è di circa 7-10 cm al giorno.

How Velvet is Woven -
The weaving process consists of first weaving the ground (usually, with 3 or 4 passes of the ground weft which intertwines with the ground warp), after which the pile warp threads are lifted as dictated by the plot punched in a series of cards which are read one after the other by the Jacquard machine.
For every card, the indicated pile threads are lifted; under these, the weaver inserts a rod (which may be either circular in section or with a groove on the upper side). Weaving velvet by hand calls for meticulous attention and great skill by the weaver; on the average, a velvet weaver can produce 20-25 centimetres of fabric per day.

How Brocade is Woven-
In the case of fabrics with brocaded weaves, each weft colour is passed singly on a small brocade shuttle that is inserted manually every time the ground warp threads are lifted.
The more colours and yarn types that combine to determine the motif, the slower and more delicate is the work of the weaver, who must be highly specialised in this technique, and the attention he or she must pay to the technical drawing – the messa in carta – which details the various weft insertions. The richer the palette of colours used, the slower the work. The production rate is about 7 to 10 cm per working day.
