NRK visits the set of Into the White!

The Norwegian channel NRK visited the set of Into the White around April 2011, and they had a chat with some of the actors. A great news clip that shows a bit from the film.

Translation of the Norwegian parts:

Voice over: All eyes are on him who gives life to the dramatic story from the war. Rupert Grint plays a British soldier in the Norwegian film for which hopes are high, Comrade (Into the White). Many have turned up to see the guy who is best known as Harry Potter's best friend, and the film star was never in doubt whether or not he wanted to do this.

Voice over: In 1940, one German and two British airplanes ended up in airbattle, the damages resulted in a German and a British airplane had to do an emergency landing on Grotli. When the soldiers sought shelter in the same cabin, they put down their weapons and had to work together to survive.

Petter Næss: It is a story about what happens when people meet, when enemies meet and when prejudices are put to a test and gradually breaks apart.

Woman on set: I need all the extras over there.

Voice over: Hjelle i Oppstryn has turned back the time 70 years, the hotel has become colonial and the roads are covered with gravel and the local people are transformed into German and Norwegian soldiers.

Boy: Can I have your autograph?

Voice over: The local extras are all of a sudden stars and an experience richer.

Norwegian extra: There's a lot of waiting around... but of course, it's a lot of fun to experience this up close. What it means to make a film. It's something you don't necessarily think about when you're sitting in the cinema or at home in your living room -- see the film and what it takes to make it worth seeing.

Boy: It's very cool with the canons and machine guns (...not sure what the boy says here, but he's seen two of them -- and his friend only saw one)

Voice over: These days, they are visited by some big names, but the actors have experienced some difficult work days on Strynefjellet.
