Seeds for Snapper is a fantastic volunteer opportunity for people in or out of the water to give back to the sea we love so much.
I was fortunate enough to book onto a S4S boat trip this year where we went to Carnac Island to collect seeds. The surge in the shallows unfortunately made me quite seasick, however we were extremely lucky to be visited by a sea lion. Visiting each group in the second dive, inspecting nets for holes (or adding holes perhaps), testing fin strength and observation skills of those focused on the ocean floor was an extremely entertaining highlight of the day for all. He made sure he came and said hello to everyone, what a gorgeous big puppy.
You will see at one point he chews on the rope for the dive flag, but twice when it touches him somewhere on his body he gets the zoomies like eeew something touched me and goes bouncing out of the water.
So many people make the Seeds for Snapper a great news story for the environment and we all benefit. Thanks to the organisers, sponsors and all the volunteers extensive hours of work.
