When you're golf ball is around the green, it can end up in different lenghts of grass. Next to the green you have the fringe, very short grass. Next to that is the first cut. Normally that has the lenght of the fairway. Behind the first cut is the rough and in some cases, next to the rought is the deep rough with thick grass.
