Meijer Opens New Supercenter in Round Lake Beach

Today Meijer officially opened their new store in Round Lake Beach with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that included representatives from Meijer as well as our local officials and State representatives. Opening remarks were made by store manager Dean Hutson followed by Chamber Director Sherry Ridge, Round Lake Beach Mayor Rich Hill, and finally Doug Meijer (his brother was at the Flossmoor ribbon-cutting today). Manager Hutson presented checks to the RLB Cultural & Civic Center ($20,000) as well as the RLA High School for their football stadium ($25,000). Hutson also had a check for our local food pantry but Wendy Warden was not on hand to accept it. Prior to the ribbon cutting ceremony, the Round Lake High School Band entertained shoppers. Local area residents should be getting a Grand Opening flier (June 23rd) in Wednesday's newspaper or you can get one as you enter the store. Don't forget that if you have a Meijer credit card or Meijer mCard you will receive five cents off per gallon at their recently opened gas station. Here's a little tip that I was told today: They are planning on raising the discount to 10 cents per gallon very soon so be sure to get your card. Currently, and until July 23rd, you will receive 20 cents off per gallon with your Meijer card. Today, that equated to $2.23/gallon for regular.
