Alexander Calder – Structural Genius Meets Dynamic Energy

Watch this 3D parallax animated film, which brings to life the story of Black Lace - a sensational Alexander Calder mobile sculpture, forged from his professional relationship and personal friendship with celebrated Brazilian architect Henrique Mindlin. In the 1940s, Mindlin invited Calder to Brazil, organised his first South American exhibition and positioned his work in the collections of the Brazilian cultural elite. Black Lace is a masterpiece of the sculptor’s innovation during this critical decade and a highlight of Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening Sale in London on 8 March.
