The city is renowned for the tombs of several prominent Sufi saints, including Sultan Bahoo, Syed Akbar Ali Shah Gilani, Syed Bahadur Ali Shah, Shah Mehmood Ghazi (known as "Ghazi Pir"), and Syed Mehboob Alam Gillani,[3][4] whose tomb, located in the heart of the town, holds significant historical value. Born during the reign of Emperor Jahangir, he died in 1079 Hijri, during the rule of Emperor Aurangzeb. After meeting Syed Mehboob Alam Gillani, Aurangzeb became his disciple and granted the family a vast tract of land surrounding Shorkot. Later, Emperor Shah Alam II constructed a tomb for Pir Mehboob Alam Gillani, which remains an enduring symbol of Mughal architecture in the city centre.
