A massive winter storm is sweeping across the US. Dangerously cold temperatures have been forecast, along with heavy snow and freezing rain that turns to ice on contact with a frozen surface.
These extreme conditions have already cut electricity to over half a million households. Weather officials are warning of a prolonged storm with a crippling impact.
