Total Length: It stretches 243 kilometers (approx. 151 miles) along the south-eastern coast of Victoria.

The Shipwreck Coast: The stretch from Moonlight Head to Port Fairy is known for its treacherous waters, with over 600 known shipwrecks on the ocean floor.
Drive Direction: Drive from Torquay towards Port Campbell (East to West). This keeps you on the ocean side of the road, making it much easier to pull over at scenic lookouts.
Timing: To beat the massive tour buses from Melbourne, either start very early (6:00 AM) or stay overnight in a town like Apollo Bay or Lorne so you can hit the Twelve Apostles at sunrise.
Weather: It can be "four seasons in one day." Use a wind muff for your microphone, as the coastal winds are very strong and can ruin your audio!
Safety: The road is winding and narrow. Always use designated "Slow Vehicle Turnouts" to let locals pass so you don't feel rushed while filming.
