Durood e Lakhi is attributed to Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi. It is said that Mahmood Ghaznavi used to recite Durood upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ one hundred thousand times each day, which began to affect the affairs of his kingdom. One night, he was blessed with a dream in which he saw the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ taught him a special Durood in the dream and instructed him to recite it after the Fajr prayer. He assured that reciting it once would earn the reward of sending Durood one hundred thousand times.
