If you are planning on riding this very popular trail, register online early, prepare your ride with adequate lighting and water. Have your ride and tires in good condition. Show up to registration at the trailhead early, no need to go to Lookout Pass. I was on the trail by 8:30 and was never riding alone and the trail is monitored by rangers and staff. Deer, bear, wolves and a moose were seen by myself and other bicyclists and others who started early. Avoid getting close to the predators. My cost for the ride and shuttle was $34; well worth the money.
