This is exactly why you should always filter and or boil your water when drinking from wild water sources. This rotting deer carcass was polluting the stream on the property and needed to be removed. I recommend filtering your water through multiple sources and reliable sources like the Sawyer and the Grail. Many people that are learning to homestead and Prep overlook the importance of very reliable sources of water and water filtration. I use a whole home filtration system and the Burkey.
Boiling is a very effective means of killing any waterborne pathogens. You can also chemically treat but it’s not my recommended source.
