With Gamtoos River flooded I decided to fish the surf zone. It's been two years since my shoulder surgery and a surf session with the bigger sticks has been a long time coming!
Winter has been fast approaching, and I really wanted to target some Kob and possibly hook into a good Garrick. It's been a very long time since I've managed to do this, I was feeling very positive for a great session!
As I approached the water for my first cast, I witnesses a huge Kob of 20kg+, leap clear out of the water as it smashed a shoal of Mullet. This, right on the shore break...virtually right at my feet!
Although the day did definitely deliver the catches of my minds eye, it was still great to be back at the water and feeling strong enough the put in the effort required for this active fishing!
I have managed to string together this video showing the structure I found to fish. I hope the voice-over provided enough detail for my reasons to fish there. I also hope you find some value in the information!
