This is a procession depicting the story of the first Easter when, early Sunday morning after Sabbath, the holy myrrh-bearing women went to the tomb where Jesus Christ's body was laid, to anoint His body only to find out that the tomb was empty.
Apostles Simon Peter and John also went to the tomb to see for themselves what the holy women told them and likewise, found nothing but the shroud and sudarium used to wrap the Lord's body and head. The narration accompanying the procession was lifted from the Holy Gospels written by the four evangelists.
The story of the risen Christ's appearance to his mother Mary was taken from the "Pasiong Mahal" and is read while the carriage carrying the image of the resurrected Christ enters the church's patio.

This year's (2017) Salubong rites was showered with light to moderate rains and which led to the delay of the ceremony and changes in the program. The make shift "Galilea" made of bamboo poles was no longer utilized to prevent any untoward incident as the poles were slippery due to the rain. Instead of the patio, the street in front of the church facade was where the ceremony took place. Efforts were exerted by the facilitators and church officers to still bring a solemn commemoration of the Lord's resurrection despite the weather disturbance.
