AITA for Rejecting the Family My Father Chose Over Me?
After losing my mom at 7, my dad became my custodial parent for 20 hours before dumping me with my grandparents for good. He spent years drifting in and out of my life, skipping child support, leaving me with random people during “visits,” and acting like a stranger I was legally bound to. By the time I was a teen, he’d cleaned up his life — just not enough to actually include me in it.
Then came his new wife and her kids… who were told I was eager to be their big brother. I wasn’t. Years later, she reached out begging for a relationship, sending letters, gifts, and invitations I never answered. When she recently called again, I finally told her the truth: I’m not interested now, not ever — no matter how many kids she has with my father.
