In this video I’m sharing a short game practice session on my home simulator, working on pitch shots from around 25–30 yards over water.
I’ve struggled with confidence on these shots in the past and have even battled the shanks at times, so this kind of practice has been really important for me. I talk through how I’ve been using ideas from Dan Grieve’s three-release system, based on his book and videos, and how focusing mainly on release two has helped me get a bit more height and trust back into these shots.
I’m not a coach or a tour pro, just a mid-handicap golfer sharing what’s helped my own game. I don’t expect to hit every green in regulation, and let’s be honest, most of us don’t. For me it’s about getting the next shot as close as possible, giving myself a chance to get up and down, and at worst save bogey.
This kind of short game work has definitely helped me save shots and feel more confident around the greens. Hopefully it’s useful or relatable if you’re working on similar areas of your game.
