Eddie Bauer was once known as the best down jacket maker on the planet. He popularized the down jacket with the Skyliner, nailed it with the B-9 jacket that was used during WWII, made a really cool-looking Kara Koram jacket, then went on to get the CEO of REI, Jim Whittaker (not CEO at the time), on Everest. That is a pretty great track record if I do say so myself! While they pivoted their strategy a bit they still have a great reputation for affordable winter jackets. However, if you're looking for that ol' EB special sauce, I think Crescent Down Works is the brand to look at.
