The individual was selected through an interview conducted by the Devaswom Recruitment Board based on qualifications. However, it was suggested that they should only be allowed to work in office duties. Despite the Supreme Court ruling that caste-based discrimination in temple appointments is illegal, the Devaswom Board's action is now heading toward a legal battle.
