Heavy music out of the NY area has a LONG & sordid history. For those of you who have been with RMW since the early days you know my commitment to it & appreciation of it runs DEEP with bands like: LIFE OF AGONY, PRO-PAIN, SICK OF IT ALL, TYPE O, BIOHAZARD, VOD to name a few. AND, what I’ve ALWAYS respected about musicians from the east coast scene is their undeniable GRIT; their ability to bite down hard & endure whatever tribulations are bestowed upon their lives in the fast paced, neck breaking & often unfiltered music environment they navigate. Undoubtedly graduating from that habitat conceives hardened outlooks & builds character. One such man who has earned his badges & braved his own battle scares is long standing multi-instrumentalist, Rob Moschetti! Rob's early beginnings go back to the mid 80's, as he sludged through a variety of bands in the tri-state area but later found his footing playing bass with Billy Milano's MOD Method Of Destruction & subsequently guitar with Pro-Pain in the mid-90s'. It was during that time that I first met Rob in 1997 at the Showcase Theater (here in SA) & I instantly admired his stereotypical fierce attitude & vibe. But NOW in the 2020's I'm happy to see the man has found his voice TOO! 2025 saw Rob release his long awaited solo release entitled, 'Prisoner To No One'. And, as I shared in my official review, ' It represents an unfiltered portrayal of a man who's at peace, & thus, at a point where he can genuinely deliver his best',....meaning PTNO is a reflection of his developed musical dimensions; a far evolution from his brutal beginnings. I've TRULY come to love (& respect) PTNO, so while Rob was in Texas (due to his commitments with MOD) I took the opportunity of inviting him to the RMW Studio to discuss it ALL. In the interview below you will see us discuss the following: his introduction to music, getting the MOD gig, getting the call from Pro-Pain, writing music, putting PTNO together, video work, individual integrity & professionalism,....IN ADDITION TO: his wife Cat Marino's emotional family turmoil, the movie, 'Heavy Healing' & fronting Destroy Myself Cancelled. To ALL the extended RMW Familia - I hope you listen deeply & then go pick up PTNO & jam it! Trust you will connect somewhere within. To Rob (& Cat) - THANK YOU for being TRUE! I think your story is inspirational & the love you share for each other & music is special. Don't stop - so we can chat again in the future. Peace! ~ El Mero Metal
