The Jaguar F Pace SVR gets reviewed WHILE competing in a Hillclimb!

Talking while driving is something we all do all the time - its really not that hard - but that's because you just chatting casually. Wait until you have to deliver a script of sorts, get your thoughts across while nailing down facts and figures in a concise manner to camera while driving - its probably the thing car reviewers struggle with the most.

I guess its like you trying to parallel park while talking on your hands free answering questions - try it - most people can only do one or the other.


Fortunately for me, I have never found it too tough a challenge - something which has certainly helped in my car reviewing career. But it goes to another level when you have limited time on a track, you driving a performance car and you need to nail it and your links...now that's when things get really interesting. I have had to do this on so many occasions but last year I set myself a new challenge - deliver an in car dynamic driving link in a competitive environment!


Jaguar South Africa, as sponsors of South Africa's must prestigious motorsport event, the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb, were launching their most performance focused SUV, the F-Pace SVR, at the event and asked me to pilot it up the hill!
The climb at Simola is fast and treacherous - its 1.9km of intense concentration - and with no run off, one mistake and you are off the hill - something which happens at least once each year.

I have competed a few times over the years but this would be my first time in an SUV....a perfect environment to review their latest machine.


It surprised A LOT of people that weekend...most of all me!
