This is an original of mine I wrote almost five years ago now, for my first ever recorded project. I had truly no idea what I was doing when it came to recording, mixing, and mastering, so it turned out exactly how you would expect, but I really like some of the songs I wrote for that project so I decided to re-record two of them for this album (this song and ‘The Vagabond’s Song’). This song is an original folk ballad set in WWI, telling a fable about the Alder-King of Germanic folklore (probably best known from the Erlkönig works of Goethe and Schubert).
