The Main Central Road, commonly known as MC Road, serves as a crucial State Highway in Kerala, India. Stretching from Kesavadasapuram in Thiruvananthapuram to Angamaly in Ernakulam District, this significant roadway, designated as State Highway 1 by the Kerala Public Works Department, has a rich historical background. Constructed in the 1790s by Raja Kesavadas, the Dewan of Travancore, it has played a pivotal role in connecting key towns and cities.


The journey begins at Kesavadasapuram, where it intersects with National Highway 66, and traverses through notable locations such as Venjaramoodu, Kilimanoor, Ayoor, Kottarakkara, Enathu, Adoor, Pandalam, Chengannur, Tiruvalla, Changanassery, Kottayam, Ettumanoor, Kuravilangad, Monippally, Puthuvely, Koothattukulam, Muvattupuzha, Pezhakkappilly, Mannoor, Pulluvazhy, Perumbavoor, and Kalady before reaching its destination at Angamaly, where it joins NH 544.


Additionally, there is a proposed Thiruvananthapuram–Angamaly Greenfield Highway, still in the early stages of development, running parallel to the MC Road. In Thiruvananthapuram district, an MC bypass road connecting Thaikkad with Vettu road junction near NH66 is also part of this extensive road network.


Before the construction of NH 544 through Angamaly, the MC Road extended up to Karukutty village, located 6 km away from Angamaly town on the Chalakudy road. A section of the road between Mulakuzha and Kottayam has been upgraded as part of NH 183. Notably, MC Road is a favored route for pilgrims heading to the Sabarimala shrine, passing through many significant towns in Central and South Kerala.
