The First Captain's Inspection at Buckingham Palace Tuesday 1st April - The Band of the Welsh Guards

Tuesday 1st April 2025 saw the first Captain's Inspection ceremony take place at Buckingham Palace at 1500. The guard is from No7 Company Coldstream Guards who were on duty at the palace and the event was musically supported by The Band of the Welsh Guards.

The band was under the direction of their Bandmaster WO1 Shave and under the command of Assistant Band Sergeant Major CSgt Mercer and features many solos from various musicians across the band during their varied programme of music!

This new ceremony is due to take place at 1500 on days which there is not a Changing of the Guard in the morning and is to 'ensure the highest standards are always maintained' and providing opportunity so 'the public can enjoy a spectacle every day at each location' according to the British Army's press release on Saturday 30th March which can be read below in regards to 'enhancements to Changing the Guard'.
