Chapter: Viscosity : Streamline Flow of fluid or liquid ...
Streamline flow of a liquid is that flow in which every particle of the liquid follows exactly the same path of its preceding particle and has the same velocity in magnitude and direction as that of its preceding particle while crossing through the point..
** In a streamline flow, no two streamlines can cross each other.
The greater is the crowding of stream lines at a place, the greater is the velocity of liquid particles at that place and vice versa.
Streamline flow in which the liquid moves in layers is called a laminar flow.
The velocity of liquid flow is less than the critical velocity.
The value of Reynolds Number for this flow lies between o to 2000.
The viscous force is greater than the inertial force.
The energy of liquid is used for the onward flow of liquid only.
