The Numidian cavalry were unlike anything Rome had ever faced. Hannibal’s light horsemen rode without saddles, bridles, or stirrups—just a rope and raw skill. They could command their horses to lie flat, scout enemy camps unseen, and strike with hit-and-run javelin attacks. These riders became the eyes and ears of Hannibal’s invasion.
