In this short movie, shot with the new LEICA SL2 camera, photographer and filmmaker Shingo WAKAGI sets out to trace the footsteps of Yasujiro Ozu, the late great Japanese film director.
In a reversal of sorts of Ozu’s “Tokyo Story” (on the family relationships of an elderly couple traveling from Onomichi to Tokyo), Wakagi films his parents as they join him on a short trip to Onomichi. Wakagi’s movie closes with images of Ozu’s gravesite at the Engaku-ji Temple in Kita-Kamakura.
Wakagi had high praise for the LEICA SL2’s powerful and user-friendly video recording capabilities and its exceptional performance, including in low light conditions. Contributing to the SL2’s superior image quality, he says, are the high resolution and beautiful bokeh effect of the SL lens.
The result are images that are aesthetically pleasing, with the soft light adding to the mood. Please have a look.
