The name Pangong Tso means “High Grassland Lake” in Tibetan.

Despite being a saltwater lake, Pangong freezes completely during the harsh winter months.

The lake gained immense popularity after being featured in the Bollywood film “3 Idiots”, making it a must-visit spot on the Leh-Ladakh itinerary.

It is also a sensitive border area, located close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China.
