William Longspee was the illegitimate son of a King, and rose to power in the reign of King Richard the 1st, rivalling the best knights of the era. At his height he was a dashing knight and commander, and at his lowest he was a rebel who joined rebels who opposed his half-brother, King John.
He helped save the Kingdom from a French invasion.
