How To Write A Realistic Villain - The Hunchback of Notre Dame

With The Hunchback of Notre Dame’s Judge Frollo, Disney broke so many of their own rules, and in my opinion they haven’t created such an accurately horrifying animated villain since.
From the gut wrenching first scene, and that certain sin that Disney rarely acknowledges, to the realism and self-righteousness that we so often see in the people around us, Disney ripped Judge Frollo’s character from the pages of a classic, and breathed into him hellfire.
