Capcom redefined the genre, branding it as "Panic Horror", delivering heart-racing chases, eerie atmospheres, and ruthless enemies. Despite hardware limitations, the game pushed boundaries with dynamic AI and detailed environments.

Critics hailed it as "Resident Evil with dinosaurs", praising its intensity, visuals, and gripping gameplay. However, some noted a lack of enemy variety and repetitive puzzles.
