In this part-2 video, we look at how the coil conduction angle width and position can be used to trade off the motor's efficiency and average mechanical output power.
The model is developed in MathCad, and the results show that power efficiencies of the single phase motor can far exceed the theoretical limit of ~39.3%. If maximum mechanical output power is not needed, then it can be traded for higher efficiencies.
Although this video does not deal directly with the Mendocino type pulse motor, this analysis is directly applicable to a properly designed Mendocino pulsed motor.
